What can I expect from a Sunday service?

We have a semi-traditional service style for the Minister’s part of the year. Our services typically start with a welcome, lighting of our chalice, and a song. Most services include a Time For All Ages, a sermon or homily, a reading from a book or poem, and several hymns throughout the service. We wrap up with a chalice extinguishing, closing hymn, and a benediction. Our minister follows the Soul Matters themes for the year, which will be mentioned in our OOS and newsletter.

Summer services can vary in style and content. Our minister takes study leave over the summer months, and our Worship and Music committee puts together lay-led services. These are organized and run by members of the congregation, giving everyone a chance to talk about something important to them, or to show off the talents of our church!

What do I do when I get to church?

When you first arrive at our church, one of our greeters will open the door and welcome you in. You will have a chance to chat with a greeter, get a nametag, and ask a few questions if you have some. Our greeters will show you where to go, and if you have a physical disability they will help you upstairs via our lift. If you would like to see more about our accessibility in our church, click here!

Once you are entering the Sanctuary room, our ushers will greet you and hand you an Order Of Service (OOS, as we commonly call it). The OOS is an outline of the service with included words and hymns we sing in unison. If you require large print hymnals and OOSes, let our ushers know! Everyone of any ability is welcome to join our service.

What do we do after service?

After our Sunday service wraps up, you can meet many of us downstairs for coffee, snacks, and conversation! We spend roughly an hour after our Sunday service in our Fellowship Hall enjoying community hour, talking to new visitors, and catching up with our spiritual family.

What do I wear?

Most folks in our church like to dress casually. You’re welcome to wear anything you’d like as long as it is appropriate for a church setting. Our children enjoy time with our RE committee for most of the service, so dress your little ones in something they can participate in arts and crafts while wearing. On days where we will be painting, we usually send out notice in advance.

Can I donate to the church?

Absolutely! There are many ways to give financially for us. Our website has a Donations page in which you can pay your pledge, donate to our Share The Plate recipients, and send donations. You can also bring cash or a check to the service with you and drop it in our offering bowl during our weekly gathering of our offering.

Share The Plate? What’s that?

Every month, our Social Responsibility Committee chooses a local organization, business, or service for part of our monthly collections to go to. We donate a portion of our offering plates to many local groups, including but not limited to Renewal Compost, Manchester True Collaborative, NH Mutual Aid Relief Fund, the NH Community Bail Fund, Hope For Recovery, and many more.

Are there volunteer opportunities?

Yes! We are a community built on volunteer contribution. We have volunteer spots for greeters and ushers, hospitality/snack hour set up, and various committees and teams you can join. For more information, our volunteering page has a breakdown of our various teams, committees, and volunteer opportunities.
