Our Seven Principles

1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person;

2nd Principle: Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

3rd Principle: Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

4th Principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

5th Principle: The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;

6th Principle: The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;

7th Principle: Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

8th Principle

Our UU church recognizes and has adopted the 8th Principle as part of our faith values. The 8th Principle states:

We covenant to affirm and promote journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse, multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.

The UUCM celebrates readings and stories from multiple faith backgrounds, ethnic backgrounds, and BIPOC communities. We also have had local indigenous leaders from the Cowasuck Band Of the Pennacook-Abenaki People host services and teach us about the Native culture of the region. Our church continues to uplift the voices of Black and Indigenous communities and vows to be a safe, understanding congregation for our multicultural community.

Our Covenant

We covenant to be a compassionate, generous, and spiritual community, welcoming to all, which champions the world and its passengers. (Adopted February 18, 2018).

Our Mission

We, the members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester, agree to:

  • Broaden our understanding of the human condition;
  • Foster mutual trust, respect and support;
  • Search for justice, bringing compassion, conscience and kindness;
  • Give generously of our talent, time, energy and finances;
  • Work joyfully, young and old together;
  • Draw our circle wider, becoming as diverse as the community we serve.

To these ends, we declare our commitment to the health and vitality of this liberal religious community. (Adopted May 20, 2018)
